IMPORTANT NEWS – MOBILE LIBRARY
Quote: “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it”
GUESS WHAT – WE’VE LOST IT!
Jude and I were the only regular users and, due to KCC’s cut backs, any Mobile Unit with two or less users will be removed.
In fact, 31 calls will be withdrawn and only 11 retained, mostly in Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate!
Only 2 villages will still see a Library van, Cliffsend and St Nicholas.
So, whether or not current villagers have been able to use the facility, KCC have now removed any opportunity for future residents
(when we run out of electricity and can’t recharge Kindles, or scammers completely take over the web!)
and they have scrubbed most of Thanet’s villages off their map, regardless of the fact that we ALL pay our Council Tax
and should be entitled to equal services!
Jude and I will miss Malcolm; he’s been so helpful. We wonder if he’ll lose his job!
There is a Consultation that closes on 4th March and can be completed on line at:
Kent.gov.uk/mobilelibraryservice. Email any questions to: LRAconsultation@kent.gov.uk.
KCC have given no indication of when changes will be implemented.
INCIDENTALLY, note the “National Libraries Day” on Saturday 6th February (moving deckchairs on the Titanic comes to mind!).
11am – 12.30 there’s an animal-themed story, including things to make and take home, at Birchington Library.
(Contact Broadstairs Library – 862994)
10.35 – 11.05 am – bus-stop lay-by, The Street (or Nursery Fields if lay-by full)
Mondays 8th and 22nd February.
NOTE: You can find and reserve a book to collect from the Mobile Library at:

NEW APPOINTMENTS SYSTEM
From Monday 1st February the Practice will introduce a new appointments system, and
like any new system continual adjustments may have to be made to ensure it meets the
necessary requirements. Therefore we would like to ask our patients for their help and
understanding during these changes. Thank you .
NEW INFORMATION SYSTEM
A new TV Monitor is to be installed in the waiting room designed to give up to date
information of surgery services and facilities, and will include other local and general
information. Once installation is complete it is expected to brought into service this
SURGERY TRAINING DAYS 2016
Please note that the surgery will close at 12.00 Mid-day on the following days:

Should you need to see a Doctor when the surgery is closed, please call the “NHS 111
Service” via the normal surgery number 821333 where you will be transferred
automatically, or you can call direct on “ 111 “, to receive “non urgent” confidential health
advice and information.
For Urgent/Life threatening issues, dial “ 999 “ as normal.
Naturally, typical winter ailments can create a tremendous demand on NHS resources,
and we respectfully request that patients consider this before contacting their GP

We ALL PAY for it – so would you waste your own money like this ?
So PLEASE CANCEL any appointment you no longer need, but PLEASE REMEMBER –
The Practice will no longer tolerate those who abuse the system.

If you have any issues you would like to raise at our meeting in February, or require
